Rovia is advising Qualitas Energy on the transport and access aspects of a proposed 60MW solar farm in South Staffordshire. Once operational, the solar farm will provide the equivalent annual electrical needs of approximately 16,200 family homes.

Working as part of the multidisciplinary project team, Rovia is leading the transport assessment for the scheme and preparing the technical documents needed to accompany the planning application. Our role is to consider the movement of construction traffic, potential effects on the surrounding highway network and public rights of way, and the identification of measures to manage these impacts effectively.

A significant element of our work has involved establishing suitable construction access arrangements and identifying appropriate vehicle routes to and from the site. To support this work, Rovia has undertaken vehicle tracking analysis and prepared access design proposals to demonstrate that construction vehicles can safely and efficiently navigate the local road network.

Rovia is continuing to provide strategic transport advice throughout the planning process, working collaboratively with Qualitas Energy, the local highway authority and the wider consultant team to help facilitate the delivery of the project. A planning application is expected to be submitted in 2026.
