Rovia is retained by RPG to provide transport planning advice for a residential development in Rownhams, north of Southampton. The scheme will deliver approximately 230 homes, including a mix of affordable housing, family homes and properties designed to support first-time buyers, and forms a new phase of a wider consented residential development.

The proposals will create a sustainable extension to the existing community, delivering new homes alongside enhanced green infrastructure, accessible open space, recreation facilities, play areas and biodiversity improvements. Financial contributions will also support transport initiatives, active travel enhancements and wider community infrastructure.

A key focus of the commission has been developing a transport strategy that promotes sustainable travel, including strengthening pedestrian, cycle and public transport connections to local services, employment opportunities and surrounding communities. Particular emphasis has been placed on improving bus accessibility and ensuring the new neighbourhood is well integrated with the existing transport network, helping to reduce reliance on private car travel and support the long-term sustainability of the development.

The planning application was deferred by the planning committee and is scheduled to be reconsidered at committee in October 2026.
