Sarratt Cycle Track Order Public Inquiry, Hertfordshire

Burlington

Rovia provided specialist transport and highways evidence in relation to the Sarratt Cycle Track Order Public Inquiry. To provide suitable access for cyclists to a permitted development of 83 homes it is necessary to convert an existing public footpath into a cycle track under the Cycle Tracks Act 1984. The application for the homes was objected to strongly by residents and as a result the opposition to the proposed cycle track order was strong.

Rovia were appointed to review the proposed order and the effects of it and to provide evidence to assist the Inspector who would determine it. Rovia had to undertake careful evaluation of pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle interactions, because there were private rights of way overlapping with the public footpath. As well as technical matters Rovia had to deal with numerous points made by objectors both in evidence and at the Inquiry

The Inquiry was held in July 2026 and the decision is pending.
